  • Units of measurement

    Select the units of measurements used for both the input parameters and the output values.

  • Example:
    mg = 1,000 lbs
    Angle = 45°
    COF = .05

  • Load

    Enter the system load (regardless of orientation) in pounds (lbs) for English units and Newtons (N) for metric units - expressed as mg on the graphic.
  • Angle

    Enter the system orientation angle expressed in degrees with 0° representing horizontal and 90° representing vertical.
  • COF

    Enter the system coefficient of friction based on the provided linear rails or equivalent. Typical values for common products are: 0.001 for Ball Bushings, 0.005 for Profile Rails, 0.01 for Cam Follower, 0.15 for Plain Bearings.
  • Life requirements

    Enter required life expectation represented in travel length in inches for inch series and mm for metric series.
  • Speed

    Linear travel rate is in in/min for English and mm/min for metric.
  • Length

    Screw Length - distance between end supports.
  • Drive System

    Screw driven is the most common but will be limited by screw harmonics or the critical screw speed. Nut driven systems eliminate critical screw limitation but require more advanced hardware to prevent side / moment loads on components.
  • End Supports

    End support configuration impacts the system stiffness which affects critical speed and column loading capacity. A stiffer system will have a higher critical speed and more compressive capacity as indicated by the End Fixity Factors below.
